MTT Agrifood Research Finland was proud to host the 4th EWEN meeting in 2008 in Finland during July 23rd 25th. We want to thank all the participants and supporters for the success of the meeting.
4th EWEN, entitled "Nutrition of the exercising horse", was focused on the nutrition and to some extend to the interactions with physiology. Aspects dealing with additives such as aids of ergogenics and doping contaminants were discussed on scientific point of view as well.
The scientific programme had five main topics - 1. Nutrient and tissue metabolism, 2. Energy and protein expenditure, 3.Mineral and vitamin expenditure, 4. Feeding strategies, 5. Performance aids and contaminants - designed in seven sessions with main reports given by invited speakers, and communications and posters.
